Colombia is one of the best-kept secrets in South America. Colombia is known for world-class coffee, music, and beaches. Withe current government reforms underway, foreign businesses are investing and tourism is again a central feature of the Colombian economy. And with destinations such as Arrecifes beach in Tayrona National Natural Park, the “Eje Cafetero” (or “coffee trail”), and the historic districts of cities such as beautiful Cartagena and the capital Bogota, Colombia is definitely a good vacation spot. ‘Eco-tourism’ is a very popular developing industry. In Colombia, eco-tourists can enjoy the practically flawless beaches in the National Parks, the mountain coffee farms, and the dense Amazon jungle, to name just a few destinations. Colombia boasts the second most diverse ecology in the world, with only Brazil leading in terms of variety of plant and animal species. From the turquoise waters of the Caribbean to the lush greenery of the Amazon and the majestic Andes, Colombia has a lot for eco-tourists. Adventure lovers should not shy away, either: in the Santander region, thrill-seekers can get the adrenaline pumping with white-water rafting, bungee jumping, paragliding, and cave exploration. Colombia seems to have it all, no matter what kind of vacation you desire.
